Current Radar/Lightning

HOW TO USE THIS MAP

This map, which comes from Windy, shows current radar and lightning data.

The map by default is centered on the Pacific Northwest. You can click and drag to move the map around and use the + and – buttons at the top right corner to change the zoom. You can also look up to 12 hours into the past. To do this, you can click play at the bottom left corner to view a loop, or click along the line above the key at the bottom to select a specific time. The loop defaults to 1 hour, but you can select 6 and 12 hours below the timeline on the right side.

Doppler radar shows where current precipitation is, but it also picks up other stuff from time to time. This can include mountains (east of Pendleton) and wind turbines (south of Kennewick and north of Arlington). These will stay in roughly the same place.
