Ingalls Weather is moving from ingalls.weathertogether.net to a new domain: ingallswx.com! As such, this will be my last post on this website.
Over the past few days, I have migrated all of the posts from this website over to there so that they will remain available. This includes popular ones like Do the Tri-Cities really get 300 days of sunshine a year, and Does Bethlehem ever have a White Christmas, on top of the more standard weather forecast updates and geology articles.
I’m excited to turn this page in my online weather forecasting presence. I started Tri-Cities Weather on Facebook as a high school student in 2009. In 2016, while I was in college, WeatherTogether’s founder Charlie Phillips invited me to spin up a blog here. Since then I have acquired my meteorology degree and began my career.
Expect to see the same style of articles over at the new Ingalls Weather, though I plan to write more frequently. Weather forecasts for the Pacific Northwest (with a Tri-Cities and Portland focus) will be common with some weather explainers, coverage of more distant weather, and other earth science topics being covered.
INFO FOR SUBSCRIBERS
Subscribers to Ingalls Weather via both email and WordPress will need to go to ingallswx.com and subscribe to the new site in the same manner they subscribed to this one. The new RSS feed can be found at this link.
People who navigate to Ingalls Weather via bookmarks will need to update those links.
I will continue to post weather updates, including from Ingalls Weather, on Facebook and Mastodon. Thank you to everyone who has followed my forecasting for the last 14+ years. I really appreciate being able to share my love of weather with the world.
DONATIONS
One of the new tools available to me at ingallswx.com is the ability to take donations. I plan to use these to help pay for website hosting and weather data, such as access to high quality weather model displays and high-resolution radar. It would be nice to offset some of those costs.
If you appreciate this service, have the means, and feel so inclined, please consider donating at ingallswx.com by using the form in the sidebar (on desktop) or below the recent posts (on mobile). Thank you.
NEXT STEPS
After this article is published on Thursday morning, I will begin work on setting up redirects from articles here to their new home at ingallswx.com. This will free up space for WeatherTogether to use for other bloggers. By pointing existing pages here to ingallswx.com, I hope to avoid link rot.
I have ingallswx.com ready to go. I plan to begin posting new articles there Friday. If you find a link over there that is broken or unexpectedly points back here, please let me know by using the Contact form.
The formatting of images and some other things on articles migrated over might be a bit wonky. In most cases, this is more of a cosmetic issue than anything else. If you find a formatting problem that needs addressing, however, don’t hesitate to tell me.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
A very heartfelt thank you to Charlie Phillips for hosting Ingalls Weather for nearly eight years. His expertise and encouragement plus being able to be here have helped me grow as a writer and a meteorologist. Please check out his WeatherTogether blog.
Finally, thanks to the numerous family and friends who trust my forecasting and support my passion for weather.
